School Programs
Whitson Elementary has a full time music specialist, a full time physical education specialist, a full time librarian, and a half-time school counselor. Other programs available for students are:
Special Education
Our program includes Speech, Hearing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, a School Psychologist, a Special Education Teacher, and Special Education Classroom Paraprofessionals.
Migrant / Bilingual
Our Migrant / Bilingual Program includes both Spanish and English instruction. Students receive Spanish reading and writing instruction as well as support for content area vocabulary and concepts that are covered in their regular classrooms. Students with less than 2 years experience in English attend an additional class where they receive instruction in basic English skills.
Extended Day Kindergarten
This is a program for selected kindergarten children to reinforce basic readiness and social skills.
After School Activities
A variety of after school activities are offered for students at no charge or for a minimal fee.
