Position |
Classroom Instructor of the White Salmon Academy (WSA) Alternative School This full-time teaching and coaching position supervises up to 20 at-risk students in the morning and 20 different at-risk students in the afternoon while operating in an alternative learning environment. The WSA is located adjacent to the Columbia High School campus. CHS students may be placed in the program for credit retrieval courses if approved by the counselor and principal. A full-time instructional aide is available during the school day to assist students and to help with paperwork.

Duties at the WSA include:
- Develop Individual Learning Plans for students while working in conjunction with the high school counselor
- Remain knowledgeable about regular curriculum in grades nine through twelve.
- Grade all work not scored by the OdysseyWare software
- Attend a training class on the various OdysseyWare academic software packages which include: English, Mathematics, History, Science, and some electives
- Demonstrate success with non-traditional learners and at-risk students
- Communicate regularly and pro-actively with parent/guardians regarding student progress, attendance, and behavior
- Establish a discipline management plan that follows all White Salmon Valley School District guidelines.

- Valid Washington state secondary teaching certificate or out-of-state teaching certificate transferable to Washington

- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Uphold and enforce all White Salmon Valley School District rules and policies
